As per InfoCom’s quarterly monitoring, The total mobile voice traffic in selected Western European markets continued to register a decline this quarter – ending 3Q19 with 150 average minutes per month (1.9% YoY). The segment was still negatively impacted by the growing demand and usage of mobile data services (e.g. OTT voice and messaging apps) in the region. While this is the case, InfoCom observed new product offers during the period which could partially mitigate mobile voice erosion if proven successful in the market. For instance, Audacious entered the UK mobile market in August 2019 as an MVNO specifically targeting around 10m people with hearing difficulties. The operator claimed to have worked with audiology and data processing experts to make the voice calls “clearer”. Subscribers can customise their hearing profile through the Audacious website and order a personalised SIM card tailored to the individual way they hear.
