Patent litigations have been growing over the years, to an extent that some companies found a lucrative business out of these transactions. In recent years, the ICT industry has seen the arrival of IPR players - unknown and seemingly unassuming companies seeking to monetise on the patent market. Most of these companies, also known as non-practicing entities or NPEs, claim that their business is created to protect the rights of the patent owners, thus taking it upon themselves to enforce these rights through litigations.
