Published: 2009-03-04

The German mobile telecom market has recorded a significant change over the past three years. The turnaround happened in 1998 with the introduction of pre-paid services. With operators' strategies more and more focused on increasing their user base through pre-paid packages, call tariffs and, subsequently, ARPU (Average Revenues Per User) began to fall initiating a price war that contributed to the spread of mobile services to the mass market.
