Fixed telephony traffic in top Western European countries

For the past couple of years, the mobile market has steadily outgrown the fixed telephony sector in terms of subscriptions and revenues. In Germany alone, 38.6 million subscribers (analogue and ISDN connections) are using fixed telephony but more than 85.7 mobile SIM cards are in use, nearly everyone between 15 and 65 years old having a mobile phone, many people having indeed two. Mainly due to this development, fixed telephony operators lost billions of revenues because of the decline in total traffic as well as decreasing prices.
