In 1Q17, total satellite TV subscription grew by 3.6% (1Q17 vs. 1Q16) –an increase of 1.3m subscribers. Slovakia was one of the countries to record growth (5%, YoY) while Lithuania registered the highest decline at 5%. Among the operators in Slovakia, Slovak Telekom posted the highest subscriber base growth (26%) which triggered by Magio Sat's TV promotion where customer can receive many HD channels from the 15 new channels offer without a price change. InfoCom estimates that Slovak Telekom has 136 000 satellite TV subscribers at the end of March 2017. In contrast, Lithuania's satellite TV base continued to contract due to competitive pressures from other pay-TV providers such as Telia Lietuva (formerly Teo LT) who was currently merged with Lithuanian mobile operator Omnitel and has an opportunity to offer multiplay service to level the playing field.
