FTTH network expansion fuels Oman’s fixed broadband growth

Strategic Highlights
Published: 2017-10-19

As per InfoCom’s Country Snapshot report on Oman, fixed broadband subscriptions in the country registered a steady increase in subscriptions due to the increasing availability and take-up of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks. As of end-2016, the Sultanate registered 174 000 fixed broadband subscriptions. InfoCom expects this to grow further to around 215 000 by end-2017 as operators such as Omantel expands FTTH to more areas or even planning to adopt other broadband solutions, e.g. G.fast technology, to enable faster broadband speeds (between 200 Mbps to 1 Gbps).
